|I'm thinking of adding more fiber to my diet in the form of tablets for various reasons, but I'm concerned about my body not absorbing the essentals properly. Should I lay off the fiber when I get into more intense training or racing? What's the deal? Is this safe?|

|You get lots of iron and fibre and that yummy sugar taste :)
I wouldn't eat too much fibre and go crazy. You might have GI tract issues while riding when you train hard. I eat lots of veges and breakfast cereals. That's a good way to get your vitamins and fibre without doing something unnatural to your body.

|If that's the problem you do know that multi-vitamin tablets containing #iron# can cause it? If this could be you then get some without iron and take them. To replace the iron get some iron tablets too but take at a different time of the day as the multi-vitamins. I have read this I'm not making it up. Jogging is great for loosening up the bowels. More oil in yer food may also help and plenty vegetable/fruit fibre as SG says is essential for any human. Dehydration will cause constipation too as your body redirects water from digestion to muscles - so stay well hydrated before during and after rides is a rule.|| |
