I've read some threads on this board that described the crash replacement cost of a Trek OCLV frame to be around 3-400 dollars. Airborne advertises $400. I'm curious to know what the prices are for other frames such as

Cannondale CAAD4
Giant TCR
Trek Aluminum
Italian Bikes (if they even have a policy)
Whatever you ride!!??

The thinking is that the upfront cost of a bike is one consideration in getting a new ride, but for many AL frames that are raced or punished in general, replacement is something we all need to think about a little. Furthermore, bike shops might try to swindle extra $$ from you when the need arises. Does any of you know the actual crash replacement prices of the common bikes people ride?

I've been left with a bad taste in my mouth from C'dale about this very subject. They talk of their great savings on frame upgrades and crash replacements... Where are they? The cost for a new CAAD4 frame was apporx $600 and the relacement cost was...you guessed it $600. Go out and buy yourself the frame/fork that you really want and don't worry about brand loyalty. They aren't too worried about you it seems. There's always the old "bike got backed into at the mall whlie I was shopping" trick if you don't mind the insurance hicky and aren't too high on scruples...
