|My family and I are going to Vancouver BC. I figured it might be a good opportunity to look at some bikes. Does anyone know a good retailer/shop in the Vancouver area?

I'm currently out in Vancouver, studying at UBC. It depends on what type of shop you're looking for:
The Bike Cellar on 4th Ave and Burrard Ave. sells Treks, Specialized, Kona, Brodies, and Cervelos. Pricey, but service is pretty good.
Dunbar Cycles (26th and Dunbar) is geared more towards students (discounts with student cards) and offers Specialized, Norco, and DeVincis. Fairly decent, and I know a few of the wrenches there.
La Bicicletta (down at Broadway and Ontario) is the priciest shop in town, but has the best service. Colnago and high end stuff here.
Conversely, Il Campione Cycles (on 235 west 7th, close to La Bicicletta) has some of ther worst service, but the best prices in town for serious roadie stuff.
Last but not least, the Cyclepath, just east of Granville St. and Broadway, is the "little shop that could", they have nice prices and not a bad selection - watch it though, they're geared more towards non-road riding.
Word up to you - 14% tax (7% federal Goods and Services tax + 7% provincial sales tax) is NOT marked on goods. Prices you'd expect to pay? Around $2000-2500 CDN with tax for a Trek 2300.
