Elderly Bianchi wants a triple to go .........Stickers

I want to change to a triple on an older Bianchi. She has Campy down tube shifters and a six cog freewheel. All the drive train is older Campy. Is it possible to buy a Campy triple that's compatable, along with a triple derailleur? Will the shifters still work with a triple?Thank you.

Its possible. you may need a longer spindle in the BB for the triple crank.that depends on present spindle length and requirements of new crankset. Some of the old doubles used pretty long spindles.downtube shifters typically have enough throw to shift a triple. You can use the rear derailer, but may not have enough chain wrap capacity to use the smallest cogs when in the small ring. This may or may not be a problem.
