One more thing. Anyone know the bike setup he used in the Prologue time trial or other time trials? I know he used the Lotus Sport frame, Mavic wheels,& Look egro stem (I think?) in the prologue. Anyone know components, bar/aerobar, regular tt frame, etc.

P.S. Its probably the coolest looking bike he ever used except for maybe the original Lotus pursuit bike.

I'm looking at pictures right now (I have no scanner, or I'd post them) and in the prologue, he used a Cinelli stem with a custom aerobar set up. It looks like an upside-down BMX bar with the cross bar removed and aerobars welded on. In the TTT that year, he used a Mavic cowhorn and chopped Mavic bars (the set up I'm using right now) with an ergostem.

In later years, he had a total custom set up where everything is coming off the fork crown so he could get really low. Not something any of us could really afford.

Try to find the Cycling Weekly from Nov 11, 2000 or his book. Those will have tons of photos.

I don't think Mavic ever made an aerobar.

Yeah, Mavic made an aerobar. Nothing special, I think it kinda looked like old Profile Aero 2's. I remember seeing in an old Mavic catalog that have...I'll see if I can find the catalog.

The custom setup he used in later years was banned by the UCI in '98 or '99, so he went back to a regular stem, cowhorn bar and aerobar.

Anyone know what kind of frame he used in the team time trial.
