Can you widen dropouts on aluminum frames?Davelc

Just wondering if I can SAFELY widen and align my dropouts from a 126 to 130mm? It is a Paramount, 6061 aluminum I think. Thanks for any comments.

You'd be rolling the dice. I wouldn't feel safe. I considered it on an old Cannondale and decided not. It's now my wind trainer mount. Besides, it's justification for a new ride.

Even though everyone kept saying you can't do it, guess what I did it! 2 years ago and its still going.

How do you go about widening the dropouts? Is there a tool? Just jam a 130mm axle in there? I love the frame but I'd really like to put STI 9-speed on it.
