|I just got done painting my bike this weekend. It came out really good. I was wondering how should I go about protecting the frame? I clear coated it but I know it will be easy to scratch. I was thinking of some clear plastic sticker of some kind to put on the bottom of the down tube to protect it. Any suggestions on what I should use? Thank you

|Assuming that you used an air-dry paint, you may want to wait a week or two before riding or assembling it. This will allow for the paint to fully harden. It will be tougher and less likely to chip.
You can use clear tape to protect the frame -- 3M makes some dandy clear tape for repairing car seats, etc., that you can get at any decent hardware store. It will eventually look ugly, so why bother. However, I wouldn't put ANYTHING on it until the paint is fully dry.

|I believe there are a few clear adhesive types available thru bike shops/bike mail order.
A couple coats of automotive clear coat ought to do the trick, tho.
How did you strip the frame?

|I striped the frame using a sand blaster. I did use automotive hardner on it. It was a pretty professional job. I used a spray gun and everything and had my auto body repair buddies help me out and show me what to do. The only place I am worried about is the bottom of the down tube. I don't plan on putting it together or riding it for about a week. Pluse I have to wait for some more parts to come in for it anyways...|| |
