i oil my chain once a week and get as much of the excess off as possible but thats it....if i dont hear any squeaking or loose headset,bb, what else is there to do to keep my bike running in perfect condition

keep brake pads and rims clean and adjusted.geezer

Brake pads pick up a lot of grit and that grit really accelerates the wear of the pads and rims. Clean out the pads, including the grooves in the pads, clean the rims and check the adjustment of the pads to ensure they are contacting the rim where you want them to and not touching the tires.

I'll tell you what you need to do.Get on that bike and ride,ride,ride and ride.Go on a 1000 mile trip to a place where they don't have computers and then ride some more!It's apparent to me that you never ride bikes.Your on this computer constantly! later .

....its wet outside and i dont do wet..yes it is true that as of late ive turned into a nerd but my urge to troll on roadbikereview is so strong and i, alas, am so weak to the baser pleasures. but you need not make mention and intend to belittle my meager being...i am but a simple biker, no more, no less...and you a cruel beast of a man with wicked intentions of harm..i but ride and seek the intrests of the small in stature and mind, please let me have my peace and do not raise your hand to me again

I think you figured out how to freak out the trolls. Other matenance you should do is remove you're stem and seatpost every couple of months, more ofter in the wet spring and replace the grease so neither one freezes in place. Other wise sticking with the chain luge and checking the derailleurs and wheels will keep the bike running a long time. TTFN
