Specialized Allez Epic - Good Buy???(7 posts)

Specialized Allez Epic - Good Buy???Flash

I am looking at buying a 1994 Specialized Allez Epic bike -- carbon fiber frame, alum fork, 8 speed, Dura Ace components, STI for $800. Bike has not been ridden much -- sat in a garage for the last 5 years. Does this seem like a good price, or should I keep looking. I have to give an answer by tonight, so would appreciate any thoughts,

Thanks in advance!

Too high IMHO. Maybe 5-600?

but priced too high. I just retired my 1992 Specialized to the trainer. Nice, durable, but I wouldn't give over about $500.

They can get some major speed wobbles at speed.

I had a '94 Epic with 105 components (same frame and fork) that I sold last year. I'd say the price is on the high side. Perhaps you could negotiate a bit. Frameset is not as light as most present Aluminum or CF bikes but had a nice ride, perhaps a bit on the compliant side for my 180lbs.
FWIW, seems high to me, too (nm)Cory

Thanks everyone. After seeing the bike I decided to pass. It was definitely good to have your outside opinions!!
