|Has anyone here heard how the 2001 Specialized bikes are? I see that all of the models have the sloping top tube. It seems components on several of the models are inferior to last year but there are upgrades in other areas such as having carbon forks.|

|It looks to me that the two entry level bikes still have level top tube frames, and the higher level models have compact geometry mimicking the S-Works SL frame used by Festina last year.
To Specialized's credit, they list 10-12 unique frame sizes in the compact geometry models, unlike Schwinn and Giant who make only 3 or 4. No need to compromise with adjustable or excessively long/short stems to get proper fit, as on a T-shirt sized frame (S,M,L or XL).
As far as the value goes, it is because the 2000 Specialized road bikes were such excellent values compared to the other brands that the 2001 bikes look over-priced. If you compare their 2001 bikes to Trek or Cannondale, they are still competitive, but not the screaming deal they were last year.
