|had one of those perfect rides today||Duane Gran|

|I just thought I would share with others since discussion is a bit low lately. Today I had one of those rare but incredible rides. I set out for a 1 hour tempo ride, set a new record for average speed (19.7mph for those interested, 135-150bpm HR) and felt so good that I decided to go riding on the trail for a while to warmdown and just enjoy the blue skies. The weather was nice enough to wear shorts and that alone lifted my spirits. On the trail I ran into two of my guys on my racing team and we rode together for about 10 miles, chatting and enjoying the afternoon. I had no mechanical concerns and felt just a little superhuman while riding today. All hills felt downhill and motorists in the city (DC) even seemed nice and cooperative as I rode with them. My intended 30 miles turned into 52 without even feeling a difference. |
It was a good day. These are the kind that keep me going and fresh. I needed one after last Thursday, but I don't want to end this on a negative note. My bike and I smiled today and I hope the same for you all.

|56 miles...3,000 ft of climbing...wind under 10 miles an hour for the first time this season. 18.6 mph average and my average heart rate was 166 bpm. Didn't even get harrassed by a motorist.|
|Perfect pre-work ride||mike mcmahon|

|Of course, "pre-work ride" means I had to go to work when it was over. :-( Anyhow, I don't know how long "newbikeitis" is supposed to last, but every one of my pre-work rides over the past three weeks has been faster than my best average speed on my old bike. Today's ride was .64 mph faster than my best old bike average and I didn't even feel like I was working that hard. Unfortunately, the impending change to daylight savings time will mean that my weekday morning rides will be starting in the dark for a while. My new lighting system should be arriving by UPS Friday or Saturday. Happy Spring to all!|

|...far too long! My business is booming and the kids are into everything going. Thanks for sharing ride experiences like this, I find it refreshing and it gives me motivation to set aside time to ride. Nice site, I've added it to my favourites, can't wait to see the photo gallery.
Rubber side down!
