I'm considering a 2000 LS Ultimate and was wondering what group to go with. I have some ultegra parts (mostly drivetrain) and Ksyriums from my old bike. Should I go with full DA or Campy Record 10sp or get the rest of the Ultegra components. I mean with an Ultimate, should I go all out or is an Ultimate with Ultegra "acceptable?"
campy compatibility....dave

Your Ksyriums won't work with the Campy 10 speed group, unless you get an accelerator 10 speed cassette from excel sports (or other source). Better to get the new campy compatible Ksyriums, and sell the old Ksyriums, or use them on another (shimano equipped) bike. The Ksyriums and campy record group are relatively cheap at totalcycling.com or sdeals.com.

Of course you should go with campy record, it's the best.

One warning though. If you're a light rider, I'd rethink the Ultimate. I rode a 55cm Ultimate (at 140 lbs), during the '99 season and found the frame to ride very harsh. I've owned cheap Aluminum frames that rode better (C'dale CAAD3). Sold mine at the end of the season and got a C40 (much better).

If moneies the problem than stick with the ultegra, there's nothing wrong with the group. Otherwise go with dura ace, it's compatible with your krysiums and you're already used to how shimano works. TTFN
