SideTrak and Two Fish make products that fit around a frame tube and allow you to use a standard waterbottle/cage on a bike withoug braze ons.

Many triathletes use cages that affix to the rear of their saddle (thus in their draft) or seatpost.

Some frames, in particular steel, can have braze ons retrofitted. Course, this would require a skilled framemaker or shop... and some refinishing.

Other options might include some type of back or hip hydration system... both of which work quite well.

Be the bike.

Ask you LBS about "Riv-nuts". It's a kind of threaded pop-rivet that can be added to a frame that doesn't have a second set on, say, the
seat tube. Had some installed on an older steel frame late last
season, they work well. It's a good idea though to add some frame saver around the place where the frame is drilled to check any rust. The riv-nuts themselves are stainless steel.
