It was almost a biological imperative. Friday I told my boss I was burning up with spring fever, which required immediate treatment. 35 miles along Fort Pickens Road (Gulf Islands National Seashore and Pensacola Beach) proved to be the just the treatment.

It was a glorious spring day, about72 degrees. The Gulf was flat and emerald green, and the winds, which can be murderous at times were mild. I spun lazily thru the campground loops at the end of my outing, and felt a bit of envy for the many campers, all of whom seemed to have at least two bicycles among their gear. I had to head back to the mainland, but they would be staying for a while.

This morning, though, I take great consolation in the new tanline from my shorts, and the knowledge that I can go back tomorrow if I like, but it will be a year or more before many of the campers can return.

Peace

Hey! That's one of my sister's favorite rides. I have yet to try it since I don't live in P'cola anymore. :(
