I have a feeling not many people look at the "Other" category in the Photo Gallery, so this great series of photos (and great story) by Rick Bell may be underviewed. Check out the expression on the kid's face as he looks over his right shoulder. http://gallery.consumerreview.com/roadbike/gallery/files/the_boy_wins_small.asp?Image=the_boy_wins_small&#comments

The boys are my most often photographed subjects here. In the case of that series, one of them actually did the picture taking, and quite a good job at that.

They like to play with my digital, and I try to keep them away from the film SLR so they don't go shooting like they would if they were able to delete the pictures :) So I let them take a shot or two (which sometimes turn out good!) on the SLR whenever I've got it with me, to keep them satisfied. They do a good job with the digital, they've gotten plenty of excellent pictures for me, of themselves and everything else.

I can say that the two best things I brought with me here were my bike and a digital camera. I think it's the absolute best way to remember and to share what's going while I'm here. A good inexpensive fixed focal length digital is all I need for that (I bought it a week before I left America! An Olympus D-360L), and I use the SLR (usually with a 35-105 zoom) for my more creative work. I carry both in a small pack on my back when I'm not riding particularly fast on that day :)

I'll try to post more work in the photo gallery, film and digital. Thanks for your comments!
