|I'm looking to upgrade my wheels on my Cannondale, 1995 road bike. I've been looking at Mavic. I'm doing a century around Lake Tahoe in June for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society so I would like to train on them before the ride. I have two questions: First, I'm a large man(getting smaller all the time, though) at 230 lbs. I'm not sure what type of wheel to get. Should I ride a large or small flange hub? Second, are the carbon fiber wheels strong enough for climbing with my weight? Help me please. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

|I weigh 170-180 and use the Orion comp's but you should look at the Javelin, they are a more aero rim nad would hold up better. The Velomax company makes a nice wheel, light, smooth and bombproof. I would stay away from carbon wheels, they don't dissipate the heat from heavy breaking very well and you don't want to have a blowout going down a fast hill like my friend did, both tires!|

|What century is happening around Tahoe in June? I live in the area and would love to ride a century around that area. Could you please email me contact information for the organizers? Thanks-

|When searching the review boards I noticed a very strong following for the Speed Dream wheels that Dave Thomas builds.
After further researching them, they seem like an excellent buy. Plus they are by far one of the lightest rims I've seen. 400+ grams to that of Spinergy.

I'm riding with a group called Team In Training for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I gather the ride is called "The most beautiful Ride In America". From what I've been told, last year there was around 600 to 700 riders from TNT. I'm not for sure about the numbers but I do know that it is a fundraiser and there will be people from all over the USA coming in for the ride. It is on June 3, 2001 and I think it starts in Truckie?? The ride goes around the entire lake. Check out my web site...www.iride4life.com We are staying at Harrah's and will be there on the 1st through the 5th. Our colors are Purple and green. You won't be able to miss us. My group from Houston has around thirty people. Who knows how many will be there all together. I hope that helps and you are able to join in on the ride.
