| Surly Cross Check frame question -- brakes | AllUpHill Jan 29, 2004 5:19 PM | | Is this frame/fork drilled for caliper brakes in addition to the cantilever bosses? In the surly website photo, it appears there might be a suitable hole in the fork crown. But the specs don't mention anything other than the cantilever bosses. |

The reach in the fork is huge, and I'm not even sure a bulldog bmx brake would reach. I'm pretty sure the back won't, either. Why run a caliper on a cross/light touring frame? If you want calipers, try their track frame (Steamroller). Drilled for front and rar brakes, and plenty of room for most cross tires... |
| Thanks. I'll go cantilever. nm. | AllUpHill Jan 30, 2004 10:07 AM | | |
