With a flip-flop SS/Fixed, do I want the chainline...TFerguson

centered between the two or optimized for the fixed? When using a Surly fixed cog on one side and an ACS BMX freewheel on the other, the fixed cog will sit about 2.5mm closer to the center. Do I want to line up the freewheel half way between the two?

Or do I really need to respace the hub slightly off-center and redish the wheel so that both sides are perfect.

Thanks,
TF

Set it up for whichever you use more. I have a freewheel, and I never use it. but in either case the 2mm diff is not a big deal.

I, too, have a flip-flop, and after I realized I was NEVER going to actually use the freewheel side, I set my chainline for the fixed. Figure that if I ever do use the freewheel side, I can worry about that then. Plus, if it's freewheeling, and you're using derailleur chain, then minor chainline variations shouldn't be any more critical than on a geared bike, right?
Geared bike has the deraileur pulley keeping it lined up (nm)TFerguson
