Check your chainring bolts!(5 posts)

Check your chainring bolts!Tig

Thanks to the "post a picture of your bike" thread, I caught what could have been a major disaster out on the road. I found that a chainring bolt was missing and the others were loose. As a mechanic, I feel embarrassed, but sh|t happens. So, go out and check your important bolts before your next ride. I can only imagine how fun tomorrow's ride could have turned out if the chainring slipped after another bolt or two fell off!

I always know when my chainring bolts are loose because of additional play when trying to trackstand. On a related note, anyone know of a better tool for tightening chainring bolts other than Park's? I can never seem to get my bolts tight enough.
