I am thinking about converting another bike to fixed. Currently I have an older touring frame fixie, but I want something with better performance and fit. Main use will be 20-30 mile pleasure/fitness cruises, on rolling/hilly terrain, on fairly good pavement, but needs to be able to handle some rough patches as well.
Anyone have experience with :

1. White Industries ENO hub for use on a frame w/ vertical dropouts? Any problems encountered? would you use 32 or 36 spokes ?

2. Does anyone use a 'shock' seatpost (like RockShox) ? (this may lessen the pounding on my butt since you can't always avoid/can't coast over big holes in the road.) Any suggestions?

3. Favorite width 700c tire? I've tried 23c,25c,32c. Not sure which I'll go with. The frame is a steel cyclocross (Lemond) which will easily handle up to 38c. I'm looking for comfort and flat tire-avoidance mainly, and am not concerned as much with weight.

4. I have cantilever brakes. Would like to keep front and rear. I'd like to add auxiliary levers on the tops. Do they work alone or must the 'real' levers still be there?

Thanks for your help!
