Does "fixie" imply no freewheeling? is a single speed freewheel a "fixie" faux paus? When somebody talks about a century ride on a "fixie" I have a hard time imagining it doesn't freewheel. Maybe it's just my age.
I'm thinking about a fixed gear project for my old Colnago. Is truly fixed or freewheel ability part of the discussion?

Fixed gear = no coasting, no freewheel, pedal constantly. There is a mix of people here, both fixed and broken.

Fixie is fixed.

I am pretty new to this. My longest "fixie" ride to date was a hilly 47 miles. At the end my legs were tired and my knees ached but I did it. 100 is definitely doable and pretty impressive too.
Thanks, So fixed it is (nm)ismellcabbage
