how much does your bianchi pista weigh?mghwk

Just about to take the plunge and was wondering a couple of things:
How much do these things weigh, out of the box. Doesn't matter much, just curious.

If putting a front brake on, and being accustomed to riding on the hoods, what do you hang on to with the other hand, hehe? Will likely use a Shimano SLR lever on the brake.

Thanks for the input,
Chrome is cool,

often people put a brake on the right as well but with no lever so you have a hood to hang on to. Sheldon's bikes have this: http://www.sheldonbrown.com/harris/fixed.html
Yup, 2 hoods but only 1 brake lever...jtferraro

Something else to consider: My LBS wrench installed a piece of cable housing under the right side ("dummy" side) top handlebar tape so it feels the same as the left side, which I thought was a great idea. Additionally, he stuck a small piece of handlebar tape into the dummy hood, where he removed the lever, to give it a cleaner look.

Good Luck,

Thanks for the suggestions on the hoods, still trying to satisfy my curiosity about what peoples bike's weigh, though. Not a big issue, just curious.

I remember weighing mine, but can't recall exactly what it was. It's around 20 now, but that's after adding a front brake, installing really heavy tires and tubes, and water bottle mounts.

Stock, there's not a single part on this bike that even approaches what I would call "light." To me, it's purely for training, so weight isn't important.

Now I just have to wait for BianchiUSA to unload their dumb boat with all the bikes on it. LBS says 2-4 weeks til delivery. Friend and I each ordered one and got a good deal from Golsan Cycles in Salt Lake City. $530 after tax. So far, Golsan has been good to work with. Will post report after delivery. Can't wait to put the brake on and go for it.

You might want to go ahead and order a pair of track nuts from Sheldon Brown. They are useful on the rear, but don't make a difference on the front. They hold the axle in place better. Also consider getting another cog to have ready. The stock 48x16 is a little tall.

My 03 Pista came with track nuts. Apparently the 02 didn't, so I had gone ahead and bought some.
