LOUISVILLE -- Heather French Henry, former Miss America and wife of Lt. Gov. Steve Henry, struck and killed a bicyclist Sunday evening, according to police.
Henry was turning from Lexington Road onto Grinstead Drive at about 6:30 p.m. when she struck a 43-year- old woman, WLKY NewsChannel 32 reported.
The woman was taken to University Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Her name was not released.
According to NewsChannel 32, investigators do not suspect French was at fault.
A police spokeswoman said the bicyclist was crossing against a traffic light and was not in a crosswalk when she was struck, NewsChannel 32 reported.
Henry, who was driving a Lincoln Navigator, told investigators that the sun was in her eyes at the time of the accident, NewsChannel 32 reported.
This lady is getting a free walk because her husband is governer. First the article blames the bicyclist because he was not in the crosswalk and moving against lights. When is it ok to kill someone and not be at fault because the sun was in your eyes. It sounds like the bicyclist was travelling straight up the road, the Navigator had to make a right , the sun got in her eyes, and she ran her over. Well hope truth and justice prevails. And even more good news, they probably got a huge tax break because she has such a big truck.
