|I'm having a heck of a time figuring out what brake to use for my new SS/fixie. The frame is an old Univega, the dude I bought it from said it had 27 inch wheels. Yet my LBS said they did not think Univega built 27 inch wheeled bikes. I am going to run 700c wheels on it, but I can't find a brake that will work. Any advice or options will be helpful.|
|any long-reach should do. wouldnt doubt some longer 'std-reach.||Steve_0|

|from the center line of the brake mount to the centerline of the rim. If you are going from 27x to 700c you should(in the majority of instances) need long reach. I believe there is a 8mm difference in the ERD (622mm for 700c and 630mm for 27x).
Shimano, bless thier collective hearts, now makes a sub 105 group long reach brake, thus the long reach Ultregra series is not the only game in town.
If any manufactures are reading this, there might be a market for a quality long reach brake...its just a thought...considering the mass conversion (subversion) for compact brakes.
