Looking for an odd size Seat post...JOMAS

I 've got an old Peugot frame (maybe '80s) that i've converted into a fixed gear bike. the problem is that i need to get a longer seat post. the post that I have on there now measures 23.9 ± 24mm. i've looked in several mail order places and local shops but no one has a post this size.

does any one know where i can get a replacement post?

thanks

john.
BMX come in 22.2...Frank Tuesday

Your LBS should have a Quality Bicycle Parts account. If not, www.harriscyclery.com has the QBP catalog online and they will order and ship it to you. They can order a 7/8" (22.2mm) BMX post, and get the appropriate shims. It think they use the same clamp standards. Looking about $40.

Here are some part #s.

ST9012 Big Cheese Straight post (need a separate clamp)
ST8700 Primo w/ clamp chrome
st8700 Primo w/ clamp black

ST5311 2 piece adjustable shim
ST0518 1.8mm shim

Any shim you get will have to be modified. They are designed to use with a 25.4 post, so you'll have to remove metal and carefully reshape the shim to fit in your frame. Alternately, you can use a coke can for shimming. Cut it down and wrap it around the post, stick it in the frame and clamp. Add or remove can as needed. Definately trial and error, and not as reliable of a solution. Either way, be careful.

Cheers,

Brian
