Can someone tell me what's the advantage of a steel track bar over an aluminum one? It seems they are quite popular on the board..

. . . a hard jump in a match sprint or a good kilo start has most track riders pull up very hard on the bars. It's done to provide a counterforce against the downward push of the legs. This transforms all available power into forward motion. Not pulling on the bars diverts some power into lifting the rider slightly with every downstroke.
