|Date for a Fixed Gear Century near Washington DC?||MB1|

|How does September 28 (Sunday) grab you for a fixed gear century? Is Saturday better? Let me know if you can attend.
NSA-OCE FIXTE CENTURY, starting from Nokesville Community Park. Meeting time is 7:15am for a 7:30 departure.
Here's the ride description: 50/70/105 NSA-OCE Fixte Century (With Snow Cone Option). Fairly to very flat, the last 20 miles are rolling. There are 50-, 70-, & 105-mile options. We'll be riding our track bikes, hence "NSA" = "no shifting available", and "OCE" = "or coasting either"; but everyone and every type of bike is welcome, especially if one participates in the spirit of the ride and holds shifting and coasting to a minimum. Bonus points for single speeds. Snow Cones at the park after the ride. (No seconds on snow cones for gear heads!) RSVP for Snow Cones. Ride leaders intend to ride a "B" pace for the full century.

|I was thinking of doing the Seagull on my fixed this year, but something more low-key with a bunch of like-minded nuts is very appealing. Questions: where is Nokesville? and what is "B" pace?|
|Nokesville is just south of Manassas.||MB1|

|About a 45 minute drive from downtown DC. I'll post driving directions with the ride confirmation. It is looking like most folks like a Sunday ride so it will likely be the 28th.
A "B" pace is from the Potomac Pedalers-something like 14-16 mph for the century. We are likely to have some pretty strong riders show up and split into faster and slower groups. Miss M and I will just ride our usual steady pace with very few stops.

|... if anyone would like to also get in an earlier ride, in August, let me know. I need to log a century or two, and a whole bunch of base miles, before attempting the Tour de Canal on a singlespeed on 5 September.|
