I really like the looks of a ring on the outside of the cranks. All of my Shimano SS/Fixed use the inside ring to get the proper chainline.

Thanks. :) I was determined to have the ring on the outside 'cause I think it looks better.

I used sheldon browns website to determine the chainline. The rear hub is 135, with a chainline of 53mm, so I chose a bigger BB and moved the chainring. I did make a mistake, and the front is about 50mm, I should have used the 122mm BB.

Did you build it or have one of the local shops do it? Were you happy with the build up?

I taped mine becasue it is used more as a lock-up bike although I am scared each time I leave it that it will not be there when I get back.

Like I said before...Maybe I will see you on a ride sometime soon.

Be well.

I built it up, it was a project for me. Bicycle Renaissance did the truing of the wheels, and put in the BB. After I saw how easy it is, though, I believe I'll install BB's myself.

I never lock mine outside, as I prefer to walk for errands, or take the bike inside with me. I usually walk. Fear of theft is a very rational and good thing.

Very Nice (x2) since you built it up yourself! (nm)ss-nyc

In reality, having the tools and Zinn and the Art of Road Bike Maintenance makes it easy. I think everyone shuold fix their own bike, if they find it satisfying.

The funny thing is that after all is said and done, we both probably paid around the same money for the bikes (~$700).

See you around.
