Pista BB question(3 posts)

Pista BB questionbacoes

I've got a '01 Pista and having some trouble with chainline. I sold the original Cyclone cranks that it came with and put an equally low-end set of 165 Doteks. I've been riding it the past couple of weeks and have had a creak. When I looked at my chainline, I noticed that the chainring was a couple of mm further out. I would like to put some Sugino track cranks on to get a lower q-factor, but I have no idea what length of BB to buy. It looks like the factory spindle is a 107.

I ran Sugino 75's on my '00 with stock BB and it had a perfect chainline. Imagine an '01 would be the same.

i think sugino recommends a 109mm bb spindle for the 75 cranks. in fact, they make a matching bottom bracket for those cranks. the only hitch is that sugino doesn't sell it as a complete package, rather as pieces (spindle, cups, bearings, all sold separately.)

some shops have package deals, however, if you keep your eyes open.
