I need to either file or add spacers to my chain-ringg bolts to get them to be tight enough for my next fixie. What is the preferred method and/or is there a better way? Just curious-if I file them all, I could be filing 'till next winter!
go to LBS, ask for BMX chainring boltsclimbo

they have a shorter sleeve so that you can tighten them all the way with a single ring. They are probably referred to as track bolts and many other things if they don't know what you mean.
Thanks. Beats filing the little suckers down! nmlook271

She's almost done now. I just have to get the crank arms retooled so that I can get my clipless pedals on. Pics to follow soon!

easiest is to do as suggested above and get some track bolts/spacers. in my more impoverished days I was bulding up my first fixed gear and not wanting to throw down the $ for new spacers I use a hack saw and a bench grinder to cut the other chainring into small enough pieces to use as spacers. worked fine. probably wouldnt do it again though.
