|The Ultimate Fixed Gear Frame||fixedgearhead|

|I just came across what appears to be the "ulitmate fixed gear frame". It is the Pinarello Montello Pista Track frame. Carbon fiber and molded to the nth degree. I am having some trouble with convincing my wife of the neccessity of springing for the $10,000,"Sigh", that they want for this baby. Even that is to rich for my blood. But what a hoot to go down to your local Starbucks and get a cup of Cappaccino on.
after you hit this link go to the track/Pista page. the url is to long to post as I would probably screw up something in translation.

|What a beautiful bike! Such detail. Did you notice the beautiful track fork ends?|

|Yes, I called Britton's' Bikes in Texas and asked for a price. That's where I came up with the 10,000 dollar price. They called me back later and quoted me the above price. After my wife administered smelling salts and I was able to gain a degree of composure I told the person at the other end that I would have to think about it. I seem to remember that that price was for Frame & Forks only, but I might have been delerious at the time.
Still, a truely beautiful execution of the framebuilders art. I am amazed that I even like it concidering that it is rendered in Carbon Fiber, a truely mysterious substance that is just possibly a tool of the devil.

|I'm sure any of us here could somehow adapt to it's rich flavor! Maybe if I won a monsterous lottery, I'd add it to the collection.
The Track Prince and Surprise are nice as well. Too bad the only area Pinarello dealer is 1/2 mile from my house!

|Bike cult has a pretty good fixed gear selection-they even have some used stuff for sale. I had them build me up a fixed wheelset a couple of months ago and I was impressed with the build quality.

|Yes, they are great. They also are the source for one of the great books on biking "Bike Cult" by David Perry. I believe he has something or other to do with the shop, maybe an owner or something. It is a great general interest read if you are into all of the aspects of the bicycle from historical to future.They seem to be messenger oriented and speak fixed/gear quite well, and have a racing team that they support.

|Check out their site, I think www.corima.com.......the arch in the top tube is what does it for me, very rare to see out on the road.|

|I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I never liked the looks of the Corima. It looks to me like a cruiser on steroids with that curved to tube. Maybe it is just my weird perspective. I think funny bikes look wierd also with their 26" wheels and downward sloping top tube. To each his/her own.
