|I was wondering that myself. I haven't gotten my trainer yet ( i am getting a 1up for xmas) but was wondering if hexagonal track nuts will cause mounting problems or will get stripped in trainer, as opposed to the round quick releases usually used.|

|I was wondering the same thing. One thing to consider is the dropout spacing....most fixed-gears have narrowly spaced drops vs standard road bikes for which the trainers were designed.
Also, what type of trainer will you be using it with? Manual or auto resistance changing? I'm not sure how well the fixed gear would work on the latter (Kurt Kinetic, 1Up, CycleOps Fluid, etc.) since these automatically increase the resistance as the cadence increases and require you to shift gears. The manual-type (Tacx Cycleforce Swing) uses a bar-mounted shifter to adjust resistance which may be better suited to a fixed-gear.

|The point of fixed gear is to be forced to keep pedaling at all times, as the momentum of the bike and you keep the pedals moving, and you get the same gearing no matter the resistance.
On a trainer, the first reason is meaningless, as the only momentum is the drivetrain, which you can resist fairly easily. The second reason might matter depending upon the resistance of the trainer and your gearing.
I'd use the fixed on the road and a geared bike on the trainer.

|I tried mine on a fluid resistence trainer, but it was just too boring to want to do it again. A trainer is boring enough already and when you can't change gears to change the effective resistence then it becomes pretty monotonous. I used a Perfomance trainer with the manually adjustable fluid resistence, but it was not enough change to do much good. I really missed the ability to shift into a high gear and stand for the commercials.|

|My first use was on a standard fluid trainer. Boooring.
Then I put it on a Cateye Cyclosimulator with gradient variable resistance. Great workout is possible with out of saddle sprints and other like moves. You need the variability of different resistances to get a true cycling feel. I don't think you need a multi-gear bike with this type of trainer.

|If you want resistance, then you can a set with the bolt-on resistance unit. Benefits: improves pedalling, road handling, and can't stop pedalling. Drawbacks: can't really do those out of the saddle sprints.|| |
