| supplements | kanekikapu Jan 28, 2004 10:42 AM | | ok, i don't mean of supplement as EPO or other illegal crap banned by USADA but i've read in some article that it is impossible for a racer to take all necessary nutrients just from food and therefore there's a need to consume supplements. but just exactly what would/have you been using? i know there's a whole isle of supplement at your neightborhood safeway but it's really cofusing because there are way too many of them. thanks in advance! |
| False premise | Kerry Irons Jan 28, 2004 8:54 PM | | You read in "some article" that it's impossible to get the required nutrition from food. This is not correct, and not supported by knowledgeable scientists. This theory IS supported by people selling supplements. Any questions. |
| re: supplements | ColnagoFE Jan 29, 2004 1:10 PM | | If you watch your diet you don't really need anything, but I personally use whey protein to supplement my daily protein intake. You could just eat a can of tuna instead, but tuna for breakfast is not my cup of tea. I also have been taking a good multi or a b-complex tab, 1000-1500mg of vitamin c a day, as well as glucosamine chondrointin for join health. l-glutamine occasionally after a hard workout to recover a bit better. |
| 99% right | pitt83 Jan 29, 2004 5:48 PM | | IMHO: I'd add 400IU of Vitamin E. Helps with muscle repair after a gard workout. Knock on wod, I don't have the joint issues (yet), but the Glucosamine / chondroitin is supposed to work based on what makes any claim true; double blinded clinical trials which have been reviewed by peers. |
