If you put a mtn. crank (34-48) and a big cassette
(11-34) on a cross bike-will there be a gear ratio problem while pedaling-kinda like a dead spot in the revolution of the crank??????????Does anyone know what I mean, and is there anything that can be done about it?

no, only issue in cx with this set up is chain slap and or chain drop. tighter gears mean smaller rear der. srm which equals tighter chain. if you have a 'dead spot' in your pedaling revolution it is most likely you. practice one footed pedaling to find if your stroke is a smooth circle, a box or something else. I run a 34/48 with an 11-30 and it is fine.
