I have seen pictures from cross races and i ride with a few guys who cross and i have a few questions:

whats with the barriers and dismounting? do you have to dismount?

can you race with a mtb?

if you can think of anything else i should probably know please add it, thanks

Barriers and dismounting is what cross is all about. Well, that and a whole lot of other fun. No, you don't have to dismount if you can bunnyhop the barriers. Yes, you can race with a mtb - I did, as do many others. It also allows you to give the sport a try before investing in a cx specific bike.
