The prospects are getting better by the hour. :) Right now, is showing that it should just be snowing through most of the races, which is better than what we have now.

Seriously!? I'm over in Arlington, and most of what we got last night is a slushy mess now. Must be all the hot air inside the beltway...
I'm at work in Arlington now, and no one believes me . . .ElvisMerckx

. . . that I was shoveling snow at 6am. Seriously, I commute down rt7 - right past Lake Fairfax park. It's DEEP out there, and they're predicting 6-8" more tonight.
Both races postponed!cbass

In consultation with Chip Sovek of Potomac Velo (host
of Sunday's VA Cross Series Finale), Lake Fairfax Park
officials, and USCF officials, we have decided to
postpone Saturday's MABRA Championship Cyclocross
race, and Potomac Velo will postpone Sunday's VACX

Chip and I like the idea of a Cyclocross doubleheader
weekend, so will be looking for Saturday/Sunday dates
to hold our races together. We are currently talking
with Park officials about the weekend of December 20 &
21; look for updates on this listserve and on the
Squadra Coppi & Potomac Velo Club websites. We are
also looking at alternate "foul weather" courses
within Lake Fairfax Park that will allow any alternate
date to proceed in any weather.

We were quite confident in our ability to put on two
fantastic, memorable races this weekend, and looked at
the inclement weather as an opportunity for them to be
even better. Unfortunately, Lake Fairfax Park told us
this morning that we would not be allowed to hold
races this weekend in these conditions. This has been
one of the premier cyclocross venues in the region,
and we plan to maintain strong, positive relations
with Park personnel. With more snow in the forecast
for tonight, we also had to take into consideration
the safety of racers, officials, and spectators who
would have to travel to the race.

I apologize for any inconvenience or disappointment; I
know I'M disappointed that we won't be able to host
what would have been one of the most memorable races
of the year. We will keep you posted on new race
dates, and what to do if you're pre-registered and
unable to race on the date we secure.

Thanks, and don't stop training just yet!

. . . once the snow reaches the bottom-bracket -- you really can't pedal anymore.

Now you could always strap the bike to your back and run the course in snowshoes.
whatever it takes! 8-)cbass

we would have packed down a pretty decent track by pre-riding the course. it would have been tough, but largely ridable. cross is not about pristine conditions anyway.
this would have been an epic weekend.

cross cancelled due to weather??? is this baseball???

Since its so late in the season, actually post season. I am thinking traveling 5 hours for the race and calling it a long weekend.

Is this a local home grown series? No clue to the VA circuit.
