|Shelby Farms training race - Memphis TN - 11.16.03||cyclochip|

|Our last race in the CrossFire series got cancelled. And not too many people found out about it. Luckily, a few guys did what it took and held a practice race that followed the same course as race #1 in the series.
It was a wey, muddy course, which made for a few spills and DNFs. Including a unfortunate mishap for our on HeavyD.
This is a B racer goofing off on my bike. He's tall, my bike is small. Hilarity ensues.

|This thing can be pretty slick when it's wet.|

|HeavyD hit the rear end on something back in the singletrack area of the course, and had to walk back to the start / finish line with this.|

|Still waiting to hear from Orbea-USA if I can get another derailer hanger for this frame. Come on guys, all I want is a phone call, an e-mail, some sign that Little Rock can still communicate with the rest of us.|

i've spoken several times with Orbea / LR regarding a Zues road frame (new, made by Orbea) that i recently purchased. they've been nothing but helpful and seem willing to bend over backwards to provide support even on a frame they hardly knew existed. if you're dealing with them e-mail only, perhaps try giving a call and asking around for the head honcho.
nice carnage, by the way.

|I've been present for three of the times Richard or Matt (Bike Lane) called Orbea-USA. Obea's answer is always we'll check on that and call you back. I believe Richard when he says they never call back. I have tried e-mail but have gotten no response.
In my job if you tell someone you'll call them back, you call them back, even if you don't have an answer for them yet. They at least know that you're working on it.
They're located in Little Rock, AR. I guess my next step is to drive there and talk to them in person.

|You got me thinking, so I called them directly. Talked to Justin, super nice guy BTW, and he said the hold up is Spain. He asked that replacement hangers be included in the next shipment. He also asked for a conformation that the hangers WOULD be in the next shipment and was waiting for that conformation before he responded. So far no reply from Spain.
Know any good machinist in the area?
Richard claims he has hammered out that derailer and put it back together. If it works he has to be the best mechanic in Memphis.

|sorry i don't know any machinists. for that matter, i can barely spell it.
glad to hear there's progress on the hanger. it is often the fact that big industry reps respond better to joe blow customer than a shop or other business contact.
I don't remember who the person was i've spoken with (Justin sounds familiar), but they were not only supportive and friendly, they also invited me for a tour of their "facility". LR is just 2 hours west, about halfway between memphis and the arkansas highpiont, mt. magazine, which is a heckuva nice place to do hill work.
not sure if i've met richard, but i've spoken with him on the phone. i wonder if shops have a certain contact person at orbea us, and that rep is worthless. maybe by calling you got an effective person on the phone. who knows?
