|What's the consensus on the newer Cannondale CX frames? I know the steel is real theory (sometimes adhere to it) but as a clydesdale I tend to turn the nice 853 bikes into wiggle machines.
Considering the '04 800 series bike. Seems like a decent parts spec and was nice and stiff.
Only thing I switch is to a Boone Ti single chainring in the front.
Thanks in advance,

|I have been riding my XS800 for 4 years and, honestly, find it to be my favorite bike. The ride, IMO, just hits that magic spot between stiff and compliant (200 pounds +), I love the geometry (5'10" on a 56) and ride the thing as a racked commuter in the Spring/Summer, a CX rig and MTB in the Fall and a studded training bike in the Winter.
I would summarize it this way...as a former shop owner, I have owned/ridden literally hundreds of bikes and I would buy another "dale CX bike tomorrow if mine got stolen.
Other bikes are better at other things...some are lighter, some are softer, some are better in the sprints...I think it does it all incredibly well.
just the opinions of a Cannondale devotee.

|If you're considering whole bike, I don't think the specd Gipemme wheels are "Clydesdale Compliant". At 230lbs, they scare the hell out of me. That paired spoke design might be grate for weight reduction, but with my size and what I'm going to ride on, never.|| |
