CrossFire #2 - 11.09.03 - Memphis, TNcyclochip

Sunday the 9th was the second race in the CrossFire series races in Memphis. It was considerably colder than the first race, about 20 degrees cooler, I'd guess. I don't know if I like the cold or the warm more.

All I have is pictures from the A race, per usual.

This is Sonic Death Monkey's Thad Ferrell leading two MMW riders into the first chicane type turn, a near 180 into another 90 degree turn.

I believe this is Forrest Owens. Whoever it is, he's got good taste in bikes.
I stand corrected... it's Beau Raithburn (nm)cyclochip

Thad again, leading the MMW riders around the tree in the hairy S turns section of the course.

SDM's Ben Peacock rounding the tree with his spare bike on his shoulder. A mechanical on the first lap made him have to go to the backup.

Here you can see the curving barriers I was speaking of. After the last barrier in this set, it was a 90 degree right turn, down a hill, then the 180 turn around the aforementioned tree. Up a hill, and onto the start / finish straightaway.

You could see the experience of the A racers on this section. Most of the B and C racers ran the barriers, jumped on the bike down the hill, slowed to a near stop to make the 180 turn, and then struggled to ride up the hill.
However almost all the A racers just ran the whole thing, from barriers to the straight.

I think maybe they got the experience they needed by watching us struggle through it :-)
