Bar-end shifters on top bar?(3 posts)

Bar-end shifters on top bar?sfrider
Nov 7, 2003 6:04 PM
Has anyone mounted Dura Ace bar-end shifters on the top bar of a cyclocross bike? It seems like a good option for people not using STI. I am wondering if the Paul "Thumbies" mounts would work ( I emailed them). Check them out at http://www.paulcomp.com/frmbk.html
I am thinking this is what they are made for, as they suggest using Dura Ace shifters with them. Also, there are the products from Forge MTB www.forge-mtb.com
I am looking for an alternative shifter mount since I am running Diacompe levers with v-brakes. I bought the Kelly Take-offs, but they interfere with my top mounted brake levers.
Forget it--I already asked Paul...The Walrus

...check this thread from a couple of weeks ago; the Paul setup was discussed near the bottom.

Of course, if enough of us keep asking, maybe they'll take the hint....

I got an e-mail this morning from Forge stating that they're getting out of the MTB parts business, as their MTB engineer has bailed on them. They're clearing out their inventory, so if you want to

to make their thumbshifters work on your 'crosser, now's the time...
