|Well, I got the bike finished just in time for my first race in like, 8 years or something like that. Took me forever to get up to Ham Lake(on the very northern side of the metro, I live waaaaay to the south). I get there JUST in time to register. Forget about warming up and checking out the course. That's what the first two laps is for right?? I kinda took richpeirce's advice and geared down a bit. Went to 39-19 from 42-18. It helped on the trail, but on the road, it hurt. I just spun my little heart out. I started ok, and was able to maintian the same pace through the whole race, and in the last four laps, actually picked it up a bit, caught and passed 5 other racers. One of them right after a barrier where he bobbled getting back on the bike and ended up in the woods. Kinda comical to watch. It felt good. Weather was chilly, probably 43° and the trail was tacky good. No big run ups, but five dismounts. |
I guess I'll have to train more, cause I'm not gonna let the next two races go. Next season I want to do the whole series. For the life of me, I can't remember why I gave this up in the first place, I had a great time out there. See ya out there!
