Sunday December 7, 14, 21, and Saturday January 3.

"Smells Like 'Cross"

http://www.geocities.com/smellslikecross

The course is currently a 1.2-mile rolling jaunt over dirt, gravel, service roads, grassy fields, and a hint of pavement. There are two small climbs and a nice run-up that should prove entertaining, plus of course the barriers will be placed in the most enjoyable locations possible. Rain and winter precipitation will make the venue especially educational for riders. The location is almost equally suited for MTBs and 'cross-bikes. The layout is very spectator-friendly.

FWIW: the annual series was canceled last-minute this year, and immediately my inbox filled with, "are you going to fix this?" As we have zero (and want zero) monetary sponsors, it's going to be completely grass-roots and seat-of-the-pants. After taking care of expenses (equipment, permits, etc), any remaining monies will both go toward awards, but will primarily be put back into the local cycling community through more races & upcoming (new) race series throughout 2004.

I almost cried when I heard the "Harvester of Sorrow" series was cancelled. This should be great fun.

I heard there was a cross "training ride" this coming weekend at Shelby Farms (Sunday maybe?)...do you know anything about that?

Oh Yea, it should be COLD by late December!

Thanks JS,
LP

PS - Great idea on the SS class!

we've had a couple training rides/clinics at the winter 'cross series venue already--one sunday, in fact.

there will also be a 3-race fall series in november. the 2nd, 9th, and 16th. it's still in the works. should be at shelby farms. info still sketchy.

LP, spread the word!
