TEKTRO MINI Vs...Any Good?...(4 posts)

Oct 15, 2003 9:46 AM
I reciently purchased a pair of DiaComp 287 V-levers to convert my CX ride to V-brakes. The Shimano XT V-brakes I'm currently using have got to go! 2 reasons:

#1 they screech worse than my shortys 4s (I remember now why I took them off my MTB!)
#2 even with knobby 35s they look big and lumbering—like a gorilla holding a tea cup!

Thew two replacement brakes I'm considering are the Avid Single Digit 7s and the Tektro Mini Vs
Does anyone have any experience with the Mini Vs? Are there any other brake manufactureers out there that make a good quality Mini V brake? Or sould i just go with the Avid SD 7s?

hmmm....any help would be appreciated!

Their performance is good, especially with the Dia-Compe levers, but there is very little tire clearance. I've got this setup on a Wazoo with 30c tires, and I get away with it only because there's no such thing as mud in this part of the world (SoCal); there might be 3/16" between the top of the tire and the cable, so forget about a knobby 35c. If you're really set on a linear pull, go with the Avids.
I have one for freeDan Cas

I'll send to the first reply. Its a great brake, but it depends on how high your bosses are mounted whether you can use it.(I can't).

I'll be out of town 'til Monday and I'll send it then.Would appreciate $5 to cover shipping.

Please reply to dfcas@yahoo dot com.

Thanks for the Info! I found Avid SingleDigit 7s for $24.95 @...JOMAS
