Barrier Height 16 inches?(6 posts)

Barrier Height 16 inches?txcross

I did some searches and couldn't find any info on the height of barriers for cyclocross races. I'm planning on building up about 3 or 4 for my backyard. I remember reading somewhere that the height was 16 inches, is this correct?

TIA

UCI regs say 40 centimeters, which is 15.76 inches. 16's close enough in my book!

Cheers!

No way I could get away with that. My wife would either kill me for trampling the foliage, or the kids would pull the barriers up and use them to expand their clubhouse. :)

You can make some very simple, very portable barriers using PVC pipe and a couple of stakes. Best part is if you screw up the Sven Nijs impersonation you won't take a header.

Funny, that is exactly what I am doing. I have been building backdrop stands with PVC for my wife's photog projects and with the leftovers I'm making me some barriers. As far as being aloud to do this, my wife couldn't be more happy. Since I started cycling a year ago I have lost ~40 pounds. She never said I needed to lose weight but she likes me much better this way! Also, somehow cycling has improved other things too, I won't go into any details about that though...

just be careful not to overtrain, or that trend could reverse itself. :)
