Bar Wraping with Bar Ends Question...(4 posts)

Bar Wraping with Bar Ends Question...JOMAS
Oct 1, 2003 1:14 PM
I just picked up a set of DuraAce Barend shifters. I haven't yet installed them, i'm waiting for my new bellap bars to arrive. The directions Shimano supplied say to install the shifters on bare bars, they are pretty vague concerning wraping the bars afterwords. Question: how do you start the tape (usually tucked into the end and capped) if the shifters are already installed? I know that there is probably a simple answer but i don't see it!

help please!

thanks
john.

A little piece of electrical tape works for me :)

I wrap one and a half times around flush with the end of the bar before I start wrapping the bar.
That's always worked for me.triangleforge

With the adhesive bar wraps, you can even get away with just a single wrap right next to the bar-end shifter, but even with the ones that have no adhesive backing, I've never had a problem with the tape slipping.

Cheers!
