|How much more black can it be? (I know, black spokes, but you get the theme here!)
Salsa stem / bar, 105 deraileurs and brifters, tektro top levers, Avid Shorty 4 cantis, FSA 48/38 crankset and BB. Seat is temporary until I can scarfe a bargain on permanent one.
First ride (8 miler on fire roads) was a blast.

|That thing looks great! I am placing my order tonight!
What length / rise stem is that?
Did you get to take it offroad much? If so, how do you feel about the gearing. I can not decide, may go SS, maybe road cranks/mountain cassette, or maybe mountain cranks/road cassette.
SS would be sick light (at least to me).
Again, your bike looks mean!

|I did 8 miles, about 3/4 off-road. Those were gravel roads / train track berms and fire roads. The bike screams; I'm used to my hard tail MTB and this is WAY faster and easier to move. Weights are about equivalent, so it's probably the gearing (48/38 and 12x27) and lower rolling resistance which makes it move so well. Gearing choices are infinite. I think I may end up swapping out often; I may tour with this bike next summer so I'll need a triple and MTB cassette for that. Maybe just a 36ring w/ an 11x34 and XT deraileur to tour? I chose this gearing to race and for winter road rides.
Stem is a Salsa; 120mm 80deg. w/ a 580 TT and fits me well. I'm going to ride a while then decide on if / where to cut the steer tube down.
If you're building instead of buying a stock bike, I sugget www.bikeman.com Those guys are great to deal with and really work to get you the parts you want. The "Smell the Glove" idea hit me after ordering and I called to switch everything I had ordered to a black instead of silver part. They thought that was cool. Quite a customer service surprise; most would have groaned over a request like that.
No, not Eleven cogs. I wish.
