SPOT vs. KELLY...(3 posts)

Sep 17, 2003 12:08 PM
A week ago I posted about a search for a quality Steel CX frame.

Thanks to all of you who gave me advise.

The 2 frames that I am most considering are the Spot Brand SS CX and the Kelly knobby Cross w/Sub-11 drops.

I've had a Spot SS MTB for several years , which I am very pleased with.
Both frames seem to be pretty equal in most respects, however, Spot is a little vague on the type of tubing used in frame and fork. They just state "mix of Dedacchi and Reynolds"

My reservations stem from a post I read several months ago regarding the suspect nature of the materials used in Spot frames and forks.

Once again, any help you could provide my is greatly appreciated.

give spot a call.
i'm sure they'll tell you how/where/why the different tubing is used.

I can't comment on the Kelly CX bikes although I've seen a few of them. However, I have a Kelly mtb and love it. Great quality. Kelly is easy to work with if you want a custom, although it might be a little late for CX season to get it delivered on itm.
