My favorite bike is the cyclo-cross bike. The versatility is amazing. I like racing, running, biking, single track, sprinting, commuting, touring, etc... BUT- My favorite rides are the no-holds-barred, impromptu, over hill and dale rides that are possible on the CX bike. I would love to hear about your adventure rides. If you haven't tried any, please allow me to make a suggestion and invent and/or attempt one. Throw out the rule book and think outside the bun and go get some. Please share!!!

which I call Snow to Sea. For those of you on the east coast or midwest I know you think of San Diego as Beach Town but our mountains push 6000 ft. This winter I'll be shuttling by car east to the Laguna Mtns. ride Big Laguna Meadow in snow for about 11 miles. Then onto the Sunrise Hwy into the town of Julian (great pie) to HWY 76 then 67 into the town of Poway. (this should be about 20-30 miles of pavement) cut across Sycamore Canyon (all off road reserve), offroad again for about another 10 or so miles of single and double track. This drops me off on a short paved street section to Mission Trails for another hilly offroad 8 miles. This will connect me to Mission Gorge where I'll finish on paved roads, dirt and paved bike trails to the Pacific Ocean in Ocean Beach for Fish Tacos and Beer.
I'll record the whole thing on camera when I do it. It should be somewhere between 55-75 miles more or less, luckily the major elevation change is down. Will start at about 5500 feet and finish at sea level (really)
