|This is perhaps more of a touring question than cross, but thanks for any help. I'm hoping to build a bike that's cross capable, but will handle extended self-supporting tours. Occassionally will be using panniers, but for the most part I will be pulling a B.O.B. trailer. Any recommendations for a good frame or complete bikes for that matter? I'm hoping to get into a bike for somewhere between $1,000 and 1,500. I'm hoping to eventually bike across the U.S. I'm just getting into road touring so any help would be appreciated.
I've thought about Surly crosschecks, Jade CrossX, and Soma double cross, but am not sure how any of these bikes would handle with touring. I also have a female friend who is getting into touring and is looking to buy, rather than build, a complete bike. Any recommendations for her for complete bikes for touring? (Have thought about Jamis Nova, Specialized Sequoia, and Bianchi Volpe, any feedback or other suggestions?)Thanks a ton for the help.
