Soma double cross use road or mtn cranks?offrhodes2

I just got a Soma Double cross cyclocross frame and had trouble with the crankset and bottom bracket going in. I have an old UN72 bb that was 107mm w/ a pair of American Classic road cranks w/ 38/48 chainrings. The chainrings hit the seatstays before the crank was pressed all the way on. I took a 110mm spindle out of the parts box and that did the same thing, until I took the cups off the shell turned it around so the left side was on the right but used the correct sided cups. The is a very small amount of clearance now. Is the frame desinged for triples or mtn cranks? Or should I just get a longer spindle, like a 117mm? It works right now, but I am now sure how long that bb will last.

Thanks,
Paul
